Barbara A Mahler’s Practice

Licensed Acupuncturist, Traditional Oriental Medicine,
Functional Medicine, & Coaching

Humans can be described as being ‘between heaven and earth’. We contain a spark of the divine and our bodies are made entirely of the same material as the earth. The ebb and flow of seasons, days and nights, floods and droughts are within us. Just as our beautiful planet holds endless treasures; each person contains deep reservoirs of wisdom, clarity, understanding, love, and health.

Barbara listens deeply to her patients and to the subtle messages that the body is sending.  She works with each individual to determine what resources to employ in their healing. Where it is needed, Barbara uses the skills from her vast clinical experience and her intuition to help nourish, balance, and/or clear blocked energy, to pave the way for healing.

“Barbara’s treatments are amazingly therapeutic, unique, comprehensive, and calming to the nervous system. Her approach is targeted at treating the whole body, mind, and soul. I have never met such a warm and wise practitioner who listens intently to my symptoms, but really pays attention and treats the underlying cause. Barbara’s awareness of the subtle, the unseen, and the emotional layers of my physical issues is really what sets her apart from other practitioner’s I have seen.“

Cancer Support

Barbara combines Traditional Oriental Medicine and Functional Nutrition to help people at every level of treatment and all stages of illness. Wellness Coaching is a tool that empowers people at a time when they often feel vulnerable and alone.

Brain Health

Brain fog and other brain disorders can appear with a concussion, post-chemo, or after the acute phases of viral and bacterial infections. Other brain health issues such cognitive decline can be due to a genetic tendency such as a genetic predisposition towards Alzheimer’s Disease.

Long Covid & Other Post Viral or Bacterial Illnesses

Most people have only in the past couple of years become aware of the disease pattern called “Long Covid”, but the truth is that many people have been suffering with similar issues due to infections from the Epstein Barr Virus, Herpes Encephalitis, Lyme disease and others.

About Barbara

Barbara is grateful for the opportunity she has had to be like an old-fashioned doctor by helping her patients with everything from fertility to journeying through challenging illnesses.

After graduation in 1987 from Emperor’s College of Traditional Oriental Medicine, Barbara Mahler practiced medicine as a Licensed Acupuncturist, Herbalist and a National Board Certified Oriental Health Practitioner in Boulder, Colorado for over 30 years. She currently practices Natural Medicine in Weaverville, North Carolina and virtually throughout North America; and continues to be passionate about offering her knowledge and experience to people that might benefit from her care.

Her studies include advanced training in Japanese Acupuncture, Auricular Therapy, Functional Medicine through The Institute of Functional Medicine, and the ReCODE 2.0 training (a brain health program for prevention and treatment of various stage of dementia). She actively pursues continuing education in both Traditional Oriental Medicine and Functional Medicine; and seeks out teachers that expand her understanding of healing in areas such as Quantum Physics, Brain Physiology, and Guided Visualizations.

In a quest to offer the best care for brain health, Barbara received training in the treatment of Concussions using The Dolphin Neurostim™  acupressure device that uses microcurrent point stimulation (MPS therapy). This further opened the door to offering needle free treatment to her clients.

Additionally, Barbara is a National Board Certified Health Coach.

As well as being a life-long student of medicine and healing, Barbara is an avid student of the inner life and experience. She is fortunate to have a daily meditation practice and enjoys volunteering with The Prem Rawat Foundation helping with The Peace Education Program. She is the author of the tween fantasy novel The Hole In The Sky, about the journey through loss; dabbles with playing the banjo, painting, and drawing. She loves swimming, hiking and enjoying the beauty of her current home in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She lives with her husband and is honored that many wild animals choose to live in the trees and fields by her house.
